Completing this form is the first of two steps in registering to becoming a Food Connect subscriber. This step is necessary to for us to ‘activate’ an account for you in our ordering system. Please complete this form even if you are intertested in subscribing but there is no City Cousin location that is appropriate for you. Filling in this form will allow us to register interest in your area and contact you when an appropriate location becomes available. Following receipt of this form, we will send payment details and upon receipt of payment then send your City Cousin’s address and phone number and your first delivery date (this may take a week or two due to unexpected demand). The ordering system will be accessible to you via our website sometime in the near future, where payment can also then be made and you can check or alter your deliveries.

This two stage system ensures the confidentiality of City Cousin locations and ensures that your online system is set up correctly. Deliveries start the week beginning 15 March 2010 and for now will be on Wednesdays for Adelaide Hills residents and Thursdays for all other locations. Pick up times are negotiated with your City Cousin. Please be advised that in our ‘start up’ month March/April we will be doing a staged rollout of deliveries and contact and your first delivery may be delayed a week or two as we negotiate our way around this new social entrerprise. You will be advised of your start week.

If you are interested in becoming a City Cousin, please check the ‘ Contact me to become a City Cousin’ tab on the form when it asks for your preferred pick-up location and we will contact you about becoming a City Cousin AND process your order and you can tell us which location would be your preferred pick up until such time that becoming a CC becomes feasible.

It’s easier to get good food in the city than in the country half the time….. we really need some country cousins too…love what you’re doing

FoodConnect Adelaide February 8, 2010 at 5:43 pm

Hi Michelle.Totally agree and longer term we hope to have ‘city cousins’ anywhere we can.

Jamie February 27, 2010 at 4:33 pm

Hi. We are so stoked to begin with FoodConnect! I have just filled out the form, but wanted to make one comment. We will be away for three weeks from 27 March to 18 April (so we will not want deliveries these weeks). Is it still ok to say that we will subscribe for 1 month (because we will resume when we return)? Is this something that we will fill in on Ruby Tuesday?

FoodConnect Adelaide February 27, 2010 at 5:31 pm

Hi Jamie. You may have noticed that we talk about boxes in terms or weeks or deliveries. You can pay for 4 boxes/ and deliveries and stagger them to suit your needs. Check out the FAQ section about holidays etc! Hope this helps and yes, ruby tuesday will deal with all the complicated issues!

Margeret Madden February 27, 2010 at 6:51 pm

Do we have any choice as to what is in the boxes?

FoodConnect Adelaide February 27, 2010 at 7:22 pm

Margaret- for now , no. The incredibly difficult logistics, planning and expense in getting this set up means that we are controlling box choices for now. See products and prices for what you can expect in your box in March. We are planning on moving to a full choice model as soon as is feasible but the cost, mainly of developing the truly staggeringly complicated software is prohibitive at start up for us.

Hi Still keen to become city cousin in Mylor!

FoodConnect Adelaide February 28, 2010 at 7:41 pm

Great news Michelle. Noted it!

kylie foster March 1, 2010 at 3:58 pm

If I was to have pickup fortnightly does that mean I would get 2 boxes of whatever I ordered or does it mean that the order would spread over 8 weeks ( if I subcribed for 1 month, 4 boxes)?

FoodConnect Adelaide March 1, 2010 at 4:41 pm

Hi Kylie. It means it would be spread over 8 weeks! Thanks for your query.

anna dawson March 25, 2010 at 7:56 am

hi FC!! i’ve just moved down from brisbane where we used FC for years and loved it. so i’m super excited that there’s an FC up and running here! to all those who are considering this – get on board, i can highly recommend it. anna

Amy Ramminger March 26, 2010 at 1:10 pm

Hello FC,

This is a fabulous idea and I am very grateful. I would like to put a vote in for a Glenelg pick-up. I have currently put my name down for Brighton North but I would love a location I could walk to as my husband and I are trying to be more green and only have 1 car. I hope the Brighton pick-up time suits an early evening pick-up.

Cheers and Thank you FC,
Amy

Bethany March 26, 2010 at 5:24 pm

I am rallying all my friends and family in Hallett Cove/Sheidow Park area! Exactly the sort of service I have been looking for and we finally have it here in Adelaide :-)
I am a happy camper!

Anne March 28, 2010 at 5:02 pm

Hi, I am interested in joining I live in Stirling but work in the city can you tell me what the pick up times for Stirling deliveries would be? Thanks

FoodConnect Adelaide March 29, 2010 at 7:42 am

pick up times are negotiated with your CC. FC recommends pick up within 3 hours of delivery time to ensure maximum freshness but recognises that people do work. mos CC have opening times until 6.30 pm

Melissa Tinney March 30, 2010 at 10:04 am

Hi Congratulations on this project. I am looking forward to my first box. Can you tell me if any of this product will be organic? I would love as much as possible to be.

Thanks

Mel

FoodConnect Adelaide March 30, 2010 at 10:47 am

Hi Mel, all our produce is grown using ecological (organic) farming methods. We use the term ‘predominantly organic’ as new rules in Australia as of 2010 disallow use of the term ‘organic’ unless it is certified. Most of our produce IS certified organic or biodynamic. The remaining uncertified produce that we procure and distribute would have been labelled organic under old rules. None of our produce is ‘minimum spray’ as there are no rules on what is minimum we do not feel comfortable supplying such produce. So in answer to your question, NONE of our produce is ‘conventional’ , ie: sprayed and grown using synthetic chemicals.

Delta April 7, 2010 at 10:46 pm

I have just subscribed my interest, but was unable to choose a pick up location near me. I did note, however, that you are need more subscibers for the Port Noarlunga area. This would be my closest local.
Please note that my subscription shows Woodville Nth as my preferred location. I am in Willunga, so please disregard this and it might be worthwhile adding another location in the drop down menu that could be something like ‘awaiting closer city cousin’ Just a suggestion!
Regards,
delta

FoodConnect Adelaide April 8, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Hi Delta- noted and amended. We do have a selection in the drop down menu ‘Put me on a waiting list until there is a City Cousin nearer to me’ which is intended to act as just that flag. Hopefully we get to you very soon!

Justin April 13, 2010 at 5:36 pm

Hi FC
I’ve just signed up and awaiting a pickup area a bit closer to Gilles Plains. Even though I grow a lot of my own vegies, I’m really looking forward to the future when eggs and milk might become available. Any ideas when that might occur? Thanks for starting this up, sounds like a great concept.

FoodConnect Adelaide April 22, 2010 at 12:41 pm

Hi Justin, great to have you onboard the FCA train! When we settle into a more ‘normal’ pace and when our online ordering software is ready we can begin to introduce these extras.

Megan May 21, 2010 at 12:36 pm

I’ve been reading about CSAs in the US/EU for ages and wishing that I could find such a thing in little ol’ Adelaide. I usually shop at the Central Markets, but I love the idea of getting fresh, seasonal produce from local growers – not to mention the surprise and challenge of getting food I may not normally use!
Thanks so much for bringing this service to SA. I’m so excited to get my first box!

FoodConnect Adelaide May 21, 2010 at 2:32 pm

Hi Megan- glad you found us! Its a great community!

Sarah Wilson June 2, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Hello! Just filled in the form, very excited! I live in Belair and could also be a city cousin if you like

Sue Booth June 6, 2010 at 1:21 pm

I live in Katherine NT and a group of families are looking at ways to get a great variety of fresh fruit and vege delivered to us at resonable cost to us. Is there any possibility that arrangements could be made for us to get boxes deliverd say once a month. If not do you know of any producers that do interstate delivery??

Sarah Luby June 8, 2010 at 11:25 am

My partner and I are both very much looking forward to supporting such a great idea

Mary June 15, 2010 at 1:01 pm

Hi Guys

I filled out the form last week but have yet to hear anything back. Is this normal or have you not received my details.

FoodConnect Adelaide June 15, 2010 at 8:26 pm

Hi Mary, yes its normal im afraid! we have a small backlog and you will probably hear from Toby our ‘orders guy’ within 1-3 weeks. Many regards and welcome!

Alex June 30, 2010 at 4:10 pm

Hi,

I have just sent in my sign up form and am very excited about becoming part of food connect. I have selected Eden Hills as my pick up area, but would be keen for Blackwood or Aberfoyle Park in the future.

Thanks

Rosemary July 2, 2010 at 9:21 pm

Interested in co;;ecting from Henley Beach or Grange

Rosalie July 19, 2010 at 10:04 am

Wow have just signed up and can’t wait to be able to pick up my first box. I have only just learned about this fabulous idea. I am so happy to be getting really fresh fruit and veg! God bless our farmers and gardeners. May He supply the rain and the sunshine for the abundance of good fruit and veg… I am more than happy to be a country cousin. I was born and raised in the country and as the saying goes .”You can take the girl out of the country, but you can never take the country out of the girl!”

Lea August 10, 2010 at 6:21 pm

Is there a certain time each week that the boxes need to be collected?

FoodConnect Adelaide August 10, 2010 at 8:50 pm
Naomi Martin August 30, 2010 at 9:03 am

I have just ordered for 2 months as I’ll be away in November.
I can also do a pickup from Stirling, as I heard that the pickup from Aldgate is at Marbury on Wed b/w
3 and 6pm – which would not suit me.

Can you advise please?

Thankyou!

Xianlin Song September 1, 2010 at 6:19 pm

I have filled the form but couldn’t submit it (no submit button!)

Naomi Martin September 2, 2010 at 7:18 pm

Unable to collect Wednesday afternoon so could pick up from Stirling if it is on a different day
